Passion is a guiding force, igniting our motivation, commitment, and wholehearted involvement in areas and activities that deeply resonate with us, molding our entire existence. This is what childhood friends Gabriel Gworlekaju and Patrick Manjoe shared for journalism. As teenage boys navigating adolescence in a small West African country during the late 1970s and early 1980s, they had dreams bigger than what their environment could afford. From playful endeavors with makeshift radio equipment to eventually becoming key players in the revitalization and daily  operation of Liberia's national radio station, the Liberian Broadcasting System (LBS), journalism forged a lifelong bond and brotherhood between them. Following their relocation to the USA in the mid-90s due to Liberia's civil unrest, Gabriel envisioned creating Africa’s first media network.

A conglomerate of news and entertainment platforms that would celebrate the traditions and cultures of Africans, share their experiences and narrate their stories from authentic perspectives and voices.

African Media Network took flight with the launch of RunningAfrica.com in 2003 and the subsequent establishment of WRAR-96 Internet Radio station in 2006. As the Running Africa news and entertainment website along with WRAR-96 gained significant traction within African communities and the diaspora, Gabriel and Patrick aimed to broaden their impact.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck on Father’s Day in 2010 when Gabriel was tragically killed in a solo car accident. This sudden loss abruptly halted the progression of the African Media Network and its subsidiaries.

In early 2024, the journey to revive the African Media Network began, spearheaded by Gabriel’s daughter, Gabrielyn Love Gworlekaju, who discovered her own passion for media and entertainment.
